Welcome to the fundraising page for our Kokoda trek for Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation.

I developed the auto immune disease Alopecia Universalis nearly 10 years ago now. It has certainly changed my life. My family and friends have been a great support throughout this time. I have two fantastic boys who make me laugh every day. They are truly wonderful human beings. They will sometimes make hair jokes that will have me in fits of laughter, because they time them so well.

When I saw the post on AAAF about Kokoda I realised I needed this challenge. It is something so outside of the scope of what I normally do that I would never have considered it before. But it was like the penny had dropped and I thought I’m going to do this. Being 44 yrs old I was in the mind set of just keeping reasonably fit as I get older, but now realise there’s a whole world of things for me to go out and explore.

This trek will help me realise my capacity to achieve almost anything. The training leading up to it alone has shown me what I can accomplish. A big thanks to my sister for being my hiking training buddy and to Endurance Boot Camp for getting me physically and mentally fit.

I want to show people that Alopecia doesn’t have to stop you from going out and achieving things.

This trek will enable me to raise more awareness about Alopecia and I would like you to join me on this adventure.
